News - Tipik launches campaign to boost business language skills

Languages mean business, a campaign to promote more efficient internationalisation in Europe, was launched this week. During the six-month project, Tipik put together a website in 22 languages aimed at encouraging European small businesses to improve their language strategies. The campaign was based on a Tipik-developed survey conducted at 40 small businesses in 27 EU countries showing how the companies improved their sales, networking and international activities thanks to good language skills. Rather than just suggesting that more language courses be offered to staff, the campaign promotes a wider palette of tips, such as hiring native speakers and professional translators, organising lectures on cultural issues, networking with universities, etc. To promote the campaign, Tipik produced a video teaser and campaign leaflets - all in 22 languages.

The campaign is one of the activities of the European Commission’s Education and Culture Directorate-General to promote multilingualism.
